室蘭岳 Muroran-dake Mt. Murorandake

Mt. Murorandake (911 m) located in the cities of Muroran and Noboribetsu in Hokkaido is a beautiful mountain that is suitable for hiking. It is also called Mt. Washibetsudake.
Most of the hiking trails are not very steep, but the ones on the north side, which is popularly called “Urasawa (Mountain Back),” provide numerous variations for expert climbers. The mountain top commands a view of the cityscape of Muroran City and Funka Bay. Mt. Komagatake on the opposite side can be viewed on sunny days.
In Dampara Park at the foot, there are camping grounds equipped with water, cooking facilities and toilettes, an athletic ground, an event stage, tennis courts, park golf courses, tennis courts, and an overnight training facility with gymnasium. From the open field in the park, you can see Muroran Harbor beyond the streets of Muroran City in the distance.
