長良川 Nagaragawa The Nagara River

Jp En

The Nagara River is a Class A river, which springs out of Mt. Dainichidake in Gifu prefecture, flows through Mie Prefecture and pours into Ise Bay. Together with the Kiso River and the Ibi River, it is counted as one of the 3 largest rivers in Kiso area. The water of the Nagara River is so clear as to be counted as one of the most famous clear streams in Japan; others are the Kakita River and the Shimanto River. It is also the only one river selected as one of 88 Fine Water Bathing Spots. A lot of families come to enjoy bathing and barbeque in summer. The Nagara River is the Mecca of rafting, too. A lot of rafting tours are operated during the season. The clear water of the Nagara River is the precious bless of nature that we should preserve for ever.
