竜門峡 Ryumonkyo Ryumonkyo Gorge

Jp En

This mysterious gorge with legends of a giant snake and Kobo Daishi is located in Mt. Kurokamiyama in Saga Pref. It is a very popular sightseeing spot. The natural spring water named “Ryumon no Shimizu” is selected as one of Japan’s 100 Fine Water. A promenade is built for the visitors to enjoy hiking and basking in the woods. At the end of the promenade lies a natural forest. You can enjoy the scenic landscape with the seasonal changes; cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves reflected on the water surface. The downstream is ponded up with dams built every 10 meters or more, which makes the current slow. You’ll be refreshed to see a lot of fish swimming around in the transparent clean water.
