Mt. Orofure with an altitude of 1230.8 m is a lofty mountain located between Sobetsu Town and Noboribetsu City in Hokkaido. There can be seen a lot of alpine plants that are normally grow in the mountains with an altitude of over 2000 m, which is very attractive for flower lovers. The start of a trail up the mountain is at Orofure Pass, which is already 930 m above sea level. As the vertical drop is only 260 m, this mountain is very popular for beginners and families. Visitors can enjoy the atmosphere of a high mountain without so much difficulty and command a fine view of the Pacific Ocean, Funka Bay, Lake Shikotsu and Lake Toya. Exuberance of blooming alpine flowers of Glaucidium and Diphylleia grayi in June, especially the cluster of Glaucidium spreading at 6th and 7th stations makes exquisite beauty. In spite of its altitude, Mt. Orofure gives a warm welcome to various people.
